  • The Green Wheel Relay will be on Sunday 1st June this year and as ever is organised by our illustrious chairman (with some help from others). It would therefore be great if we can enter a team or more, therefore if anyone is interested, please let me know asap either by replying to this message or on a club night. I would need you to tell me the leg you wish to run and the time you estimate to complete said leg. If you wish you can run a maximum of two legs but only for the same team. Full details are available at www.greenwheelrelay.org.uk but there are 7 legs in total, the shortest being 4.2 miles and the longest 8.8 miles. The full route being the length of the Green Wheel cycleway around Peterborough. The event is handicapped in that the start times for each team is staggered, such that every team should finish at roughly the same time; assuming the estimated completion times for each runner matches their actual completion time. IMPORTANT: As last year ‘bike support’ is mandatory for all stages. The ‘bike support’ must be contactable by mobile, wear an appropriate hi-vis vest and carry both water and a First Aid kit. If anyone is willing to act as ‘bike support’ please let me know. All runners must be club members (1st or 2nd claim) and be over 16 years old, unless running either stages 2 or 5, when the minimum age is 15. Please read the full rules at:  www.greenwheelrelay.org.uk. Cost is £91 per team, therefore £13 for each team member. ECR VE Day 80 Lap Relay – 8.5.25

Well done to everyone that joined in the fun of tonight’s VE 80 Relay. You smashed it and still had energy to run an extra lap. Good to see some rivalry and good fun had too.

Such a special sight to see the beautiful fly past tonight too.

The 80 laps were completed quite equally amongst the teams which was really good to see.

Green – 14 laps
White – 14 laps
Yellow – 11 laps
Orange – 11 laps
Blue – 12 laps
Blue band – 12 laps
Juniors – 2 laps
Roy – 7 laps

Well done everyone.

Thank you to all the lovely bakers for the cakes and goodies. Just under £50 was raised as a donation to The Royal British Legion.

To mark the 80th Anniversary of VE day on Thursday the 8th May. ECR are planning to commemorate this event as it falls on a club night.  We would like to run 80 laps of the field (600m) in teams of four as a relay. The plan is to have one member of each team running at a time and then total all the runs of the event together, the event will last an hour, in the hope we smash the 80 laps. Teams should consist of a mixture of speed and ability, you can whizz around, jog, walk, whatever you like. Every lap counts. As many teams as we can make up are all welcome.  We would like to encourage everyone to wear red/white/blue running colours or a suitably patriotic top. Flags and bunting are welcome.  You are also welcome if you are of the baking kind to bring along cakes/biscuits/nibbles. We will then have these available for a small honesty pot donation to The British Legion.  We are aware that the Couch-2-5k runners are also graduating on the same evening reaching their target of 28 minutes of continuous running. If those members would like to take part in this event and are happy to run laps of the field continuously rather than as part of a relay, then we would love to include your laps in the challenge total.  After this event there is a beacon lighting ceremony at 9:30 in the village that we are invited to attend.

For those taking part in the C25K here is a link to the web page to remind you of your homework  C25K Homework
