Age Grade Competition

Awards will be presented annually to those runners who have won their respective Age Grade Club Competition. There will be separate competitions for Male and Female runners.

The Age Grade Competition runs parallel to the main Club Championship and utilises the same 12 races as eligible races plus Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns.

NB: Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns are mandatory.

1. Open to all fully paid-up club runners regardless of their ability, level of race experience, age and gender (you do not need to be a super-fast runner to enter). New members are encouraged to participate, but only those results after they have paid their membership fee will count. To qualify participants will be FIRST CLAIM and enter each event as ‘Eye Community Runners’ and MUST wear club colour’s (Vest or T-shirt).

2. The Age Grade Competition year starts on 1st April and finishes on 31st March, prizes are awarded at the club presentation night.

3. The events are 12 “public” races which are generally within reasonable travelling distances from Eye plus Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns. BH denotes if the race date is on a Bank Holiday. Max of 1 event will be on a Bank Holiday.

4. The dates are as accurate at the time of publishing as possible, dates can change +/-1 a week which will be communicated ASAP and required changes to events will be decided by the club committee.

5. Each member must complete at least 5 races from the 12 club championship events and in addition both Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkrun MUST be completed to qualify; a total of 7 races. There is NO requirement to complete a race from each category except for Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns.

6. There is no set date for the completion of Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns and a member can run these as many times as they like throughout the competition year. The best age grade score achieved for these two events will be used to calculate the overall score for the competition.

NB: For these two parkruns only, members must e-mail [email protected] with their time, where a result betters a previous result in the competition year.

7. Race results are published timely on the ECR website and Facebook page; an updated matrix will be provided after each event showing the current standings for both Male and Female competitions.

8. The results are based on an average of the 7 best age grades for each runner including Ferry Meadows and Snowden Field parkruns. The following website will be used to calculate the age grading for all runners – http://www.howardgrubb.co.uk/athletics/wmalookup15.html.

The age used in the calculation will be the age of the runner at the start of the club year. Consequently, the age grade reported for a parkrun may differ by a few minor percentage points. This is because parkrun use the runner’s age at the time of the event in their calculations.

NB: Due to Frostbite events not being accurately measured but being around 5 miles, they will be treated as 5-mile road races within the calculator.

9. Awards are given for 1st,2nd & 3rd Female and 1st,2nd & 3rd Male,

10. Any potential disqualifications for not following the above rules will be decided by the club committee.
